MARK Lawn will decide by the end of the week whether to press ahead with his plans to bid for the Bulls after Julian Rhodes opted against getting involved.

Lawn last week spoke of his interest in acquiring the club after they entered administration for the third time in just five years.

He and Rhodes sold Bradford City to German duo Edin Rahic and Stefan Rupp in May but made bids to buy the Bulls during the club's previous administrations in 2012 and 2014.

Former Bantams joint-chairman Lawn said: "Julian and I have had a long talk. At first he was keen and said he wouldn't mind taking a look at it and getting involved.

"We discussed it further and he said 'it's not really my sport'. To be fair, it's not my sport either but I just don't want to see the Bulls go out of existence.

"If there is somebody out there who wants to take them on, then I haven't got a problem with that.

"I just don't want somebody to take it on and put it into administration again. That's the most important thing."

Lawn is currently exploring a separate business venture which he says may preclude him taking charge of the Bulls.

He explained: "If this other commitment comes to fruition, and I'll know by the end of this week, then I would need a partner to run the Bulls.

"If it doesn't come off, then I could probably do it myself.

"I understand what's going to be needed to get the Bulls up and running again but I couldn't commit myself for six days a week if I had this other commitment to take care of.

"That's why I was looking to Julian to get involved because we worked well together previously.

"I know how much hard work is involved and I don't want to commit myself if I have to do something else to make money, so it's just whether I take on this business venture or not.

"I'll decide by the end of the week whether I want to progress things any further with the Bulls. I'm looking at the non-disclosure documents, so I'm at the early stages."

Lawn believes the Rugby Football League will be wary of the prospect of Marc Green regaining ownership of the club.

He said: "I'm sure the RFL will be looking at this carefully because he's the man who has put the Bulls into administration twice."
