ROHAN Smith has revealed the Bulls are hoping to confirm dual-reg partnerships with two League One clubs.

Bradford have sent players on dual-reg to Dewsbury and Oxford in recent seasons, while numerous squad members have headed out on loan.

A link-up with Coventry Bears was also announced ahead of the 2015 season but never got off the ground.

Now the Bulls are in talks to link up with two third-tier sides from different geographical areas, although the identities of those clubs have not yet been disclosed.

"We are looking at dual-reg opportunities with a club in the heartlands and another club outside of the heartlands," said head coach Smith.

"This can potentially help to grow the game in other areas and give our players opportunities to go and play some games.

"There should be dual-reg link-ups with two League One clubs, although they are yet to be finalised."

Smith's squad is nearing completion and a number of youngsters or fringe players could benefit from the dual-reg arrangement.

"We've got several kids coming out of the under-19s from last season who might need games elsewhere if they are not able to force their way into the team on a semi-regular basis," said Smith.

"A dual-reg partnership offers that flexibility and is far more beneficial than loan deals, which are a bit more rigid.

"The dual-reg allows us to change our mind on a weekly basis – and so can the other club – but also provides the opportunity for experienced players to get themselves a game or two if needed after injury.

"Furthermore, it can strengthen some League One clubs and add some quality to the competition because I'm all for growing the game in areas which aren't traditional rugby league territory."
