ETHAN Ryan is expecting a "tasty battle" when the Bulls face Dewsbury for the fifth time this year in the Championship Shield semi-final on Sunday.

The West Yorkshire rivals have beaten each other twice apiece this season and this weekend's clash is being billed as the 2016 decider.

Homegrown winger Ryan, who has scored 15 tries in 13 appearances this campaign, insists the Bulls are ready for the physical challenge that Glenn Morrison's men will pose.

"We know what happens when we play Dewsbury – we know what they're like and we know what to plan for," said Ryan.

"They're a physical team and they always try and bring it down the middle and out wide. We know what to expect from them and how to deal with it, so it'll be a good tasty battle I think.

"But equally, they will know what we're going to give, so I believe that if we turn up on the day we will be able to do the job comfortably.

"We knew our Championship Shield campaign was going to come down to this because we made the semi-finals quite early.

"It'll be a tough game and we need to be at our best because we know they can turn us over if we're not."

With prize money of £50,000 on offer for the winners of the Shield, Ryan says Bradford are determined to go all the way and claim the club's first piece of silverware since the World Club Challenge in 2006.

He said: "We need to get to the final and win it. Supporting Bradford as a kid and now playing for them, it would be a massive achievement if we could win the Shield. It will go down as a big moment in my career."

Ryan made his senior debut earlier this year and has not looked back since, establishing himself as a fixture in the team on the left flank and earning himself a new deal.

He said: "It's good to keep scoring but obviously my team-mates create the chances for me. I'm going well, so hopefully I can keep it going this weekend.

"There are new players coming into the club next season, so it's just about having a strong end to this year and then a big pre-season.

"I wasn't expecting to be given as many chances as I've been given. I've made 13 appearances and I didn't think I'd come anywhere near that.

"To match that with tries is obviously good because it's one of my main jobs – to finish tries on the wing.

"Kris Welham is a really experienced player who has been in Super League and having him next to me has helped."

Bulls head coach Rohan Smith is unlikely to make many changes to the side which thumped Sheffield 80-0 last week.

He has a dilemma over whether to recall Joe Keyes or stick Lewis Charnock alongside Dane Chisholm in the halves.

Dewsbury are expected to recall former Bulls star Paul Sykes after injury but Mitch Stringer (knee) is definitely out, while on-loan duo Lucas Walshaw and Etu Uaisele are ineligible to face their parent club.
