IN-FORM Ethan Ryan is confident the Bulls can end the season on a high by lifting the Championship Shield.

The homegrown winger grabbed his second hat-trick of the season in Sunday's hard-fought win over Swinton to take his tally for 2016 to 12 tries in 11 appearances.

Ryan was impressed by the character his side showed after losing Kurt Haggerty to a red card and Kris Welham to the sin-bin.

"Sunday was really tough, so when you get chances and take them it's enjoyable," said the speedy wideman.

"It was a dogfight at times and we were down to 11 men for a period of the game. Even when we were pushed to the limits, it just showed what we've got.

"It was tough but we fought it out again like we had at Dewsbury, which was pleasing. We want to keep that momentum going and remain unbeaten for the rest of the year.

"We need to win the Championship Shield. It's not where we need to be and to not win it would be embarrassing.

"We wanted to be in those middle eights competing to get back into Super League. But we're not, so I think we need to win the Shield and take that momentum into next season."

Ryan is staking an impressive claim to make the left-wing berth his own following his recent rich run of form.

He admitted: "It would be nice to keep that position. All the boys coming through the ranks shows what we can achieve as a club.

"There are more to come with the six academy lads coming through and I think you will see them make their mark next year too."
