BULLS fanatic Richard Johnson has been revealed as the winner of the Big One Lottery jackpot.

Johnson, from Shipley, scooped the £4,650 jackpot after it had rolled over for 43 weeks.

He also serves as the head coach of the Bulls wheelchair rugby club and had been cycling home in the rain when he got the call.

“It was quite a shock when I got a call on Friday,” said Johnson.

“I actually nearly fell off my bike! I pulled up at a set of lights and got the call that I had won the Bulls lottery and £4,500 – I don’t remember getting wet in the rain on the way home.”

Johnson’s winnings came hand-in-hand with a brilliant year for the wheelchair side after claiming the league title.

The wheelchair side dominated their league and were crowned champions after going unbeaten throughout 2016.

Their season also included a Challenge Cup run where they made the semi-final before losing out.

Johnson added: “I coach Bradford Bulls wheelchair rugby league team and there are a lot of great characters in the squad.

“This money has also capped off a great season for the team because we’ve just won the league, we went undefeated and got to the semi-final of the Challenge Cup. It’s great to bring the success back to Bradford.

“I’m red, amber and black through and through. I’ve been supporting the Bulls since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

“I used to come with my uncle and then returned in the 1990s and it is very rare that we miss a game now.”

The Big One Lottery helps fund the future of the Bulls as it supports the work of the youth system, which has produced several notable stars over the years.
