LEWIS Charnock is open to the prospect of becoming a fully-fledged Bulls player.

The St Helens scrum half joined Rohan Smith’s men on an initial one-month loan at the beginning of June.

The arrangement continued on a week-to-week basis and was recently extended until the end of the season.

With his contract at Saints due to expire, the 21-year-old is currently weighing up his options for 2017.

Asked whether he would like to join Bradford on a permanent basis, Charnock said: “That's up to the gaffer, the coaching staff and the powers that be.

“You never know, it might be one of those last-minute things, but hopefully it gets sorted soon rather than later so I know where I'm at for next year.

“I'll speak to my agent and we will go from there but if Rohan wants to keep me then it's certainly a possibility.”

Charnock has enjoyed his spell at Odsal and forged a promising partnership with Dane Chisholm, who recently joined the Bulls on a deal until the end of 2017.

With Leon Pryce also expected to join Bradford – and former London pair Oscar Thomas and Joe Keyes also contracted for next season – it remains to be seen if Smith will seek to keep Charnock and fellow loanee Stuart Howarth beyond this campaign.

Charnock added: “Chissy and I have been playing well together.

“We are still learning about each other but I'm sure our combinations will just get better and better.

“He's more off the cuff and I'm more structured, so it brings a good balance to the team.

“You have to play to get better and it's always good to get regular game-time, so I’ve really enjoyed my time at Bradford.”

Like every Bulls player and supporter, Charnock was left devastated by the 20-0 defeat at Featherstone which condemned them to the Championship Shield.

“You play the game to be involved in the chance to get promotion and play against the Super League clubs,” said Charnock.

“It's so disappointing for the fans, the players and the coaches – everyone involved really.

“You want to be playing at the highest level you possibly can, so it's gutting.

“But we've got to pick ourselves up and go up to Whitehaven this weekend with all guns blazing.”

Thomas, meanwhile, was on the scoresheet for London Skolars in their 38-28 home defeat at the hands of Rochdale on Saturday.
