DANE Chisholm has confirmed he will still be at Bradford next season in the wake of the club’s failure to reach the middle eights.

The Aussie half-back was brought in with three games of the regular season remaining in a bid to fire Rohan Smith’s side into the top four.

He helped the Bulls to victory over Whitehaven and Oldham in his first two games before last Sunday’s defeat at Featherstone condemned them to a fifth-placed finish.

Yet Chisholm is under contract until the end of 2017 and says he has no intention of jumping ship.

“I'm definitely here next year,” insisted the France international.

“It was pretty devastating to lose at Featherstone because we wanted to be in the middle eights and that was our goal.

“It hurts when you don't achieve the goal you set out to achieve.

“You could say we underperformed, but I think that Featherstone really brought it to us.

“They rolled straight through us and ran harder than us from the play-the-balls, which earned them all those penalties.

“We just got steamrollered and it wasn't a lack of trying. They just brought it to us.”

Chisholm had hoped to play against his old club Hull KR as well as Leeds, Salford and Huddersfield in the Qualifiers.

He made a telling impact for Rovers last season in the middle eights, helping them to a highly impressive run of seven straight victories.

But Chisholm now faces the prospect of playing against sides such as Workington, Whitehaven and Oldham in the Championship Shield.

It was not what he signed up for and Chisholm said: “Last year was last year, but I'm more worried about the here and now at Bradford.

“We didn't get the result on Sunday and that's what we were after, but we've got a really good group and all the boys are pretty tight-knit.

“With the camaraderie in the group, I think we will have a good squad next season.

“We will be looking to move forward positively into the Championship Shield.”

Meanwhile, James Clare has undergone surgery on the ankle ligament damage which caused him to miss the Featherstone defeat but he is expected to play again before the end of the season.
