BRADFORD Bulls have today been hit with another winding up petition following a claim for monies owed by HM Revenue & Customs.

A notice published on the London Gazette website today announced that a petition to wind up Bradford Bulls Northern Ltd was presented on July 11 by HM Revenue & Customs.

The petition is due be heard at the High Court in London on September 5, 2016 at 10.30 hours or as soon thereafter as the petition can be heard.

But the club swiftly issued a statement in response this afternoon, saying: “Bradford Bulls Northern Ltd submit the following statement in regards the WUP advertised today.

“The club were subject to a VAT Assessment which was appealed three months ago.

“This appeal is on-going and we believe HMRC have acted unfairly in respect of the assessment and the issuing of the petition.

“The club is confident it will succeed on appeal against the assessment and do not envisage this as a long term problem.

“Once again, we are sorry if, in light of the scaremongering earlier this week, this has caused any further concern.”

A previous winding up petition was lodged by HMRC against the club earlier this month, which had also led to the Bulls issuing a statement to dispel fears among supporters.

Bulls chairman Marc Green issued a lengthy statement earlier this week in the wake of the club’s failure to finish inside the top four of the Championship and reach the Qualifiers.

He said the club intended to stay as a full-time operation in 2017 after missing out on significant revenue in central funding and gate monies due to finishing fifth.

The Bulls have spent two spells in administration, in 2012 and 2014.
