ROHAN Smith has created a buzz of energy around Odsal, according to Omari Caro.

The winger began the week by signing a contract extension for a further year at the Bulls.

Caro was pleased to get his own immediate future sorted as he looks to learn under new coach Smith.

He admits his approach has been different to Jimmy Lowes and believes it won’t be long before Bulls fans starting seeing the results on the pitch.

He said: “It’s definitely changed. He’s a new face and he brings a lot of energy – that’s the best way to describe Rohan.

“He’s a very positive character and he’s got that quality from coaching his whole career in the NRL.

“I’m pretty sure we’ll see his work rubbing off sooner rather than later.

“The fundamentals are obviously the same but it’s fine-tuned in a different way.

“There are different ideas with coaches and little intricacies that maybe fans won’t notice from the start.

“It’s something that will take time to come to fruition. But hopefully this weekend will be the start of a good run for us.”

Caro was keen to gloss over last week’s 16-14 home loss to Dewsbury but after back-to-back defeats, the Bulls cannot afford another slip in the increasingly frantic chase for the top four.

He was left out of the squad for tomorrow’s trip to basement side Workington but could soon be back in the mix.

Smith’s men have a game in hand on all their rivals – the rearranged clash with Oldham at Stalybridge on Wednesday.

“It’s a quick turn-around but we’ve got a big enough squad to not let that bother us,” added Caro.

“There’s enough of us fit to play to not use that as an excuse.

“There are four teams within a point of each other so every week is important now.

“Everybody wants those wins to get into the top four.

“The aim from the start was to be in there. Obviously this year has not gone as smoothly as we’d have liked.

“We’ve got to take each game as it comes with the big prize at the end to get back into Super League via the Middle Eights.

“That’s the long-term goal. But at the moment we’re taking it week by week.

“We’ve worked on a few things that weren’t very fluent last week and hopefully tomorrow you’ll see what we can do.

“The coach has his own ideas of what he wants to bring to us and it was always going to take a little while to adapt to the way he wants us to play.

“We’re training every day to make those little things better so fingers crossed, this weekend we can put in a good performance.

“Workington aren’t a bad team, they can play. It will be interesting.”

With his contract topped up by another year, Caro will have no distractions as Bulls look to climb the table.

“I’ve said from the day I got here that I wanted to stay for a while. I’m really happy to have re-signed.

“From past experiences, it does get quite stressful when it comes to contract times.

“End of the day it’s your job and if you’re out of contract, you’re out of a job. It’s nice to get that put to bed.”
