DANNY Williams admits he would love the Bulls to face his old club Leeds in the promotion-deciding middle eights later this year.

The Rhinos are on course to finish in the bottom four of the Super League at the end of the 23 regular weekly rounds following a disastrous first half to the season.

Brian McDermott's men currently prop up the table after losing 12 of their 15 league encounters this term.

They are six points adrift of eight-placed Widnes and appear increasingly likely to be facing four Championship clubs in the qualifiers.

Bradford are bidding to finish in the top four of the Championship for the second year running and Leeds-born Williams said: "If we stick to our game-plan, we can beat anyone.

"The last time we played Leeds in Super League, we beat them at Headingley, so anything is possible if and when we play them in the middle eights.

"Leeds are a good team and can raise their game against anyone, so it would be a tough one – but also a great occasion. I hope it happens."

Williams' immediate focus is on overcoming Leigh at the Summer Bash in Blackpool on Saturday.

The Centurions currently top the Championship table and sit seven points ahead of the Bulls, although Bradford have a game in hand on the teams around them.

Williams said: "We try and step up every time we go out to play and we will certainly have to do so against Leigh.

"They are top of the table and have made some good signings this year, so they are the team to beat. But if we keep doing what we're doing, I reckon we've got a great chance."

Williams was a key figure in last Friday's win at Sheffield as the Bulls marked Rohan Smith's first game in charge with a hard-fought 25-14 success.

During the second half, Williams made a brilliant try-saving tackle on Garry Lo and then collected Danny Addy's exquisite long pass to go over inside the right channel.

"Addy is obviously a very skilful player and he gave me the nod, saying 'Dan, watch for this' and threw me the pass," said Williams.

"He's got the vision to do that and I was happy to finish it off because the competition for places is tough now.

"If I have a bad game, young Ethan Ryan is ready to step in and there is Johnny Campbell too. Everyone needs to stay on their toes in every position."
