IF THE Bulls go to Sheffield tonight and win – and win well – it would go a long way towards erasing the pain of the sides' last meeting.

On Sunday, April 3, Mark Aston's Eagles landed at Odsal and racked up a 46-28 win on a nightmarish afternoon for every Bradford supporter.

Two games later, coach Jimmy Lowes was gone.

But the arrival of Rohan Smith has breathed life into the club's season and James Clare admits they are keen to avenge their humiliating defeat against Sheffield.

"It was a little bit embarrassing because they are the teams that you do need to be beating," said Clare of last month's encounter.

"There have been a couple of low points and it would be difficult to pinpoint one – but that game was one, without a doubt.

"Sheffield are striving for a top-four spot and we are striving for a top-two spot.

"Therefore this is a game that we need to win to give us confidence going into the Summer Bash because we want to put a marker down against Leigh as well."

Clare has been deployed on the wing, centre and at full back this season.

He has scored tries in each position and perhaps excelled most at full back, where he played in last week's demolition of Swinton and touched down twice.

Clare's coveted knack of supporting the attack and crossing the whitewash or putting others over has made him a popular figure with Bulls supporters.

"I really like playing full back and I think that's the role which probably suits me best as a player," he said.

"We've got some really talented full backs at the club, so it will be interesting to see where Rohan would like me to play."

Clare is out of contract at the end of the season and has interest from a couple of Super League clubs, while Bradford are keen to re-sign him.

He said: "I'm just enjoying my rugby at the moment and am not sure where I'm going to be. It's about getting the right club at the right time for me and my family."
