SWINTON Lions have not won at Odsal since August 1957 but they will cross the Pennines in a rich vein of form.

John Duffy’s men have won their last five games to climb the Championship table in some style, seeing off Oldham, Workington, Halifax, Batley and Whitehaven.

It is a highly impressive sequence and included in Swinton’s squad is Connor Dwyer, son of former Bulls star Bernard Dwyer, who will be a guest in hospitality at tomorrow’s game.

Like Bradford, Swinton did not have a match last weekend due to being out of the Challenge Cup.

Yet Duffy said: “We had a couple of lads with niggles, so I suppose the week off was a good thing but obviously we want to keep our roll going if we can. It’s a massive task for us this week.”

At Widnes in February, the Bulls’ victory over Swinton was a match that so typified the Championship.

Blood and thunder, a messy ruck, questionable officiating, and ultimately a full-time side overcoming part-time opposition with plenty to spare.

Bradford outscored Duffy’s side by nine tries to three, with former Hull KR centre Kris Welham underlining his class with a well-taken hat-trick.

Yet Swinton were game opponents throughout that day and have made undeniable progress since then.

Duffy added: “We played Bradford over at Widnes in the second game of the season, so it will be interesting to see how far we’ve come in a couple of months.

“We’ll give it a good dig over at Odsal. Some of our young lads won’t have played in a stadium like that before, so it will be great for them.”
