ELLIOT Kear admits he was delighted to get one over his old club on Sunday but he is backing the Bulls to still make the top four.

The Wales international enjoyed an outstanding game as London Broncos beat Bradford 30-16 in Ealing to cement their place in the top two behind leaders Leigh.

The Bulls’ third defeat of the season has left them facing an uphill task to make the top two and they face stiff competition for a top-four berth.

Yet Kear is confident his former employers will qualify for the end-of-season lottery in the middle eights and he says Bradford will always have a special place in his heart.

The 27-year-old, a pivotal figure at full back on Sunday, said: “We got done by Bradford over Easter and that was a pretty close game.

“We came away from Odsal thinking it probably could have gone either way.

“The big thing for us on Sunday was that we didn’t want to be out-enthused at home.

“We had trained well all week and playing as a real team, which I think showed on the field against Bradford.

“At the same time, I think we can still improve but we had said that we wanted to make that margin at the top a bit bigger.

“We are six points above Bradford now, so we’ve given ourselves the best possible chance of finishing in the top four.

“I think they will definitely make the top four and anything can happen when you’re in those middle eights.

“It does seem like there is a lot going on there but, at the same time, when I was there things were happening and the players pulled together and played for each other.

“If they do that again, they should be fine.”

Kear was signed by Mick Potter ahead of the 2012 campaign and enjoyed three successful seasons at Odsal before being allowed to leave at the end of the 2014 relegation season.

“I was there for three years and loved every minute of it,” said Kear.

“You never want to have a bad game against your old team, so there is always greater motivation when you play a club you have been at.

“I definitely think ‘what if I was still at the Bulls?’ because I love Bradford and see it as my second home.

“If I’d had the chance to stay then I would have, but sometimes things don’t work out. I’d never rule out coming back, though.”
