ADAM O’Brien has revealed he is likely to stay at the Bulls beyond the end of this season.

The homegrown star made his debut for the club in March 2011 and has since emerged as one of the best young hookers in the game.

He swept the board in Bradford’s player of the season awards last year but is among a large group of players who are out of contract at the end of 2016.

The list includes key men in O’Brien, Lee Gaskell, Danny Addy, Paul Clough, Dale Ferguson and Mitch Clark as well as youngsters Ethan Ryan and Joe Lumb.

Addy and Clark are believed to be attracting interest from Super League clubs while Championship rivals Leigh are known admirers of Gaskell.

Dan Fleming, who has established himself in the side in recent weeks, is set for a move to the newly-formed Canada side in League 1 next season.

Yet O’Brien, who has previously been linked with Leeds, has reiterated his desire to stay at Odsal as he confirmed: “Bradford are hoping to keep me and I’m hoping to stay.

“Yes, I am out of contract at the end of the season but I’ll be doing my best to perform and hopefully get us into Super League.

“We will go from there and, while there is nothing in writing at the moment, I’m hoping to sign for Bradford again.

“I’m looking forward to it and if I do then it’s all good for me.

“I know it sounds silly because I’m 22, but I’m only four years off my testimonial here.”

O’Brien flourished after Jimmy Lowes took control at Odsal in June 2014 and he played 80 minutes in the majority of games last season.

Last Sunday’s win at Dewsbury saw Lumb picked ahead of him as the starting hooker before O’Brien came on to play a pivotal role in the Bulls’ second-half dominance.

O’Brien added: “It was different for me to come off the bench on Sunday, but I enjoyed it and it was nice to play my part.

“Disko (Matt Diskin) said ‘just speed the game up when you come on’ and I tried my best to do that.

“We came away with some good tries and put plenty of points on a good Dewsbury side.

“It was a good confidence boost for us after two losses, which weren’t good enough for us a team.

“We can hopefully push forward now going into the Workington game.”
