BRADFORD Bulls Women thumped Selby Warriors Ladies 82-0 on Sunday to record their first win of the season.

The Bulls, who have been awarded rugby-league.com Club of the Week, were 30-0 at half-time and racked up another 52 points in the second half to romp to victory.

Aimee Staveley opened the scoring before Jess Courtman went over for her first try.

Scrum half Jen Waite was less than five metres from the line and put Courtman through the gap to go over the whitewash.

Staveley crossed for her second of the game and Bradford’s third of the half before Rhiannon Marshall grabbed the first of her hat-trick.

Player of the match Shona Hoyle grabbed a try before Amy Hardcastle scored a brilliant team try.

The ball went through several pairs of hands as play was switched from the right edge all the way across to the left for Hardcastle to go over and give the Bulls a 30-0 half-time lead.

Bradford never looked back after the break as they piled on the points.

Courtman got the ball rolling early on in the half. Amy Johnson, making only her second appearance in rugby league, claimed her first Bradford try as the former union player went over the whitewash.

Lisa Taylor grabbed her first try of the afternoon as she caught Danielle Bose’s cross-field kick to touch down after Jessica Hopkins had gone over for the third try of the half.

Marshall burst through several would-be Selby defenders to get her second of the game, in between tries from Katie Whelan and Hoyle.

Taylor scored her second before Marshall completed her hat-trick with the final score of the game.

Courtman added the extras to take her individual score for the game to 24, as Mark Prescott’s team charged to victory.
