DANE Nielsen has joined South Sydney Rabbitohs following his departure from the Bulls at the end of last season.

The Australian centre joined Bradford last July to boost Jimmy Lowes' squad ahead of the promotion-deciding Qualifiers.

His debut was in the memorable home win over Salford Red Devils and he made five appearances in total, including the Million Pound Game defeat at Wakefield.

Nielsen then headed home to Australia to care for his ill mother and it was agreed that he would not be returning to Odsal for the 2016 campaign.

Souths have now signed him on a contract until the end of the 2017 season following previous stints in the NRL with Melbourne Storm, New Zealand Warriors and St George Illawarra Dragons.

Nielsen was part of Grand Final victories in 2009 and 2012 with the Storm and also represented Queensland in three State of Origin clashes in 2011 and 2012, as well as the Indigenous All Stars in 2013.

Rabbitohs head coach Michael Maguire said: "Dane brings with him big-game experience which will be invaluable for the young members of our backline.

"He's prepared to put in the work and fight for a spot in our backline and competition for spots is what every club looks for. We're looking forward to having him join the squad this week."
