KRIS Welham has become the latest player to join the Bulls' promotion push after heading to Odsal on a two-year deal.

The centre was a free agent after leaving Hull KR at the end of last season when contract talks broke down with his hometown club, who have centres Iain Thornley and Thomas Minns.

Welham spent nine seasons and scored 100 tries for the Robins and snubbed interest from Super League clubs to make the move to Bradford.

The 28-year-old, who has spent the past month on holiday in Australia, said: "I'm delighted to finally get my future sorted.

"A lot of teams had started pre-season training and I didn't have a club.

"But I'm glad to get it done and dusted now and I can crack on with being a Bradford player and helping them get back into Super League."

Welham racked up his century of career tries with a delightful effort against Jimmy Lowes' side in the Qualifiers.

He has often performed well against the Bulls and also scored in Rovers' Challenge Cup win at Odsal in April.

Welham added: "Why Bradford? They're are a great club with plenty of history and coming here is a fresh start and a new challenge for me.

"There were offers on the table - including one from Hull KR themselves - but we couldn't settle on a deal.

"There were a couple of other Super League clubs interested in me and obviously the Bulls.

"I probably had my best season in a long time at Hull KR this year.

"I've had five weeks off since the end of the year but I'm fully fit and raring to go. Myself and Bradford have got the same goal and that's to get back in Super League.

"If I can contribute towards that then it's job done for myself."

Welham's best position is left centre but he can also play on the wing and even at full back if required.

The Hull lad, who has twice been capped by the England Knights, joins Oscar Thomas, Johnny Campbell and Jonathan Walker in coming on board for next season.

Welham started pre-season training this week and his arrival could see Adrian Purtell moved into the halves alongside Lee Gaskell.
