OMARI Caro is keeping his fingers crossed that he will be handed a contract at the Bulls beyond the end of this season.

The speedy winger joined the club on a short-term deal last month and enjoyed that winning feeling for the first time in Sunday’s thumping win over Salford.

Caro had played against Sheffield, Leigh, Halifax and Wakefield without tasting victory but he played his part in the momentous win over the Red Devils.

Having staked a claim to make the right-wing berth his own since his arrival, not least with a stunning hat-trick against Leigh, Caro remains keen to be a part of Jimmy Lowes’ plans in 2016.

The former London Broncos and Hull KR man said: “I’m still waiting to hear back from Jimmy and Steve Ferres but I’d love to stay here and have said that from day one.

“It’s just a question of when they decide but for me it would be nice to know sooner rather than later, especially with what happened last year at Hull KR.

“I got left in limbo for nine months and then let me go, so I wouldn’t like that to happen again.

“Maybe this week I can have a chat with the Bulls and see what direction we are going in before coming to some sort of agreement.

“Since I came here, all the lads have made me feel really welcome and the facilities here are perfect for me.

“If we don’t make Super League this year, there is every chance we could do it next year and I believe we can.”

Yet Caro remains quietly confident the Bulls will be plying their trade in the top flight next term after the way they destroyed Salford on Sunday.

The Bulls have this weekend off due to the Challenge Cup but return to action in next Sunday’s visit of Widnes.

Caro said: “I said after the Wakefield game that we had to start big against Salford and we did.

“We just didn’t start big, but we played big for the full eighty minutes and from one to seventeen.

“It’s just about being consistent and performing every week, but we showed against Salford that we can do it.

“The target is for us to do it every week. The guys can recover and get our bodies right for next week now and give Widnes another good eighty minutes.”
