JAKE Mullaney is confident his injury problems will not resurface as he prepares to face his former club Salford.

The Aussie star, who joined the Bulls from the Red Devils at the end of last season, has been plagued by injuries in 2015.

Back and hamstring problems have reduced him to the sidelines for a large chunk of this season but he should be passed fit for tomorrow.

Mullaney said: “I’ve had a bit of a back problem all year and I think that’s what has pushed down into my hamstring.

“The club made a call in midweek last week that I wasn’t going to be right to play against Wakefield.

“It has still been quite sore this week but I got through training on Thursday and it felt good, so I should be fine for Sunday.”

Mullaney’s time at Salford was also blighted by injuries and he made little more than a dozen appearances for them last term.

“It obviously wasn’t ideal coming to England and then get injured, but I quite enjoyed my time there,” he said.

“I still speak to a few of the boys there and they seem to be in good spirits, even though they didn’t go too well through the season.

“They seem to be playing well now and in the best form of the season so far.

“Rangi Chase has probably been the player of the middle eights so far and it’s a big job for us to shut him down this weekend.

“But the fact I’m playing my old club doesn’t matter because you want to win whoever you’re playing against. We’re pushing for promotion and we want to beat everyone.”

Mullaney has showed glimpses of his undeniable class at times this season and was recently awarded a new two-year contract.

The 25-year-old added: “That was a rap for myself because I’ve not had the greatest year on the field and have been injured non-stop.

“After showing a bit of form late in the year, I’ve managed to get a new deal. I’m happy about that and it secures my future for the next two years.”
