OMARI Caro believes the Bulls must match Salford in the first twenty minutes of Sunday’s showdown – or risk getting blown off the park.

The Red Devils head to Odsal on Sunday on the back of two straight wins over Wakefield and Leigh, leaving them well placed to avoid the drop.

After a nightmare start which saw the Bulls ship five tries and fall 30-0 behind with less than half an hour played at Wakefield, Caro accepts a vast improvement is required.

He said: “It just wasn’t a good day for us from start to finish with the injuries we picked, the performance and obviously the result.

“Wakefield had a lot to prove and they came out of the blocks strongly.

“They’ve had a pretty bad season by their standards, so for them it was a must-win game and in the first twenty minutes they blew us off the park.

“After that, it was too late for us to get back into the game.

“A lot of Super League teams try and blow their opponents off the park in the first twenty minutes.

“But if you can stick with them during that period, it can be anyone’s game.

“Hopefully we can turn things around this week against Salford.

“They’re all big games now and we can only take one game at a time.

“Fingers crossed we can perform better against Salford than we did at Wakefield and get the win.”

Caro ended up at full back in the final quarter of the match at Belle Vue after swapping positions with James Clare.

Caro could line up outside new recruit Dane Nielsen on Sunday after the former State of Origing centre was not risked against Wakefield.

“James got a finger in the eye and couldn’t see anything, so I moved to full back and he went to the wing,” said the former Hull KR man.

“I’m looking forward to playing with Dane once he gets going and fingers crossed it will be this week.

“He’s a good bloke and I actually played against him for London four or five years ago when he came over with Melbourne Storm.

“He has shown up well in training and I think the Wakefield game was a bit too soon for him, but hopefully he will feature against Salford.”
