JAMES Clare is aiming to silence Scott Moore and the Wakefield crowd when the Bulls travel to Belle Vue on Saturday.

Growing up in Castleford and then representing the Tigers, Clare has always viewed the Wildcats as his deadly rivals.

He played for Cas alongside former St Helens hooker Moore, who recently joined Wakefield on loan from their neighbours.

Clare said: "I spent a bit of time with Scotty the other day and we had a bit of banter. He thinks he's going to do a job on us this weekend, so hopefully I can have the bragging rights.

"As a young lad, I would go to Wakefield to support Castleford and one memory that sticks in my head was scoring four tries at Belle Vue a couple of years ago in the final game of the season.

"Castleford went on to lose that game but being a Castleford boy there is no better feeling than playing in a derby against Wakefield.

"The Bulls fans have been travelling in numbers and hopefully they can make it feel like another home game for us on Saturday."

Clare has adapted to life at Bradford with consummate ease and marked his home debut with a try in Sunday's win over Sheffield.

The rangy winger said: "It was great to get a try on my home debut and the lads were saying I've got to kiss the badge next time I score.

"It was good to start the Super 8s with a win, although the performance wasn't the greatest. We were good for ten minutes and then bad for ten minutes.

"It's going to be a step up this week against Super League opposition where we really need to put in a full 80-minute performance.

"All in all, we will take plenty of confidence from Sunday's win and go to Wakefield full of belief."

Clare played alongside Lee Gaskell for the first time and watched the returning play-maker score a hat-trick on his comeback appearance.

He said: "Gaskell scored three tries but he could have had ten! He's going to be the guy we need to step up against Super League sides and be the game-changer.

"We had seven or eight changes from the Halifax game and they were all key men."

Clare spent the final quarter of the victory over Sheffield at full back after Jake Mullaney was forced off with a back problem.

"I don't think it was anything serious and was more of a precaution," said Clare.

"We've got some great full backs in Jake, Ryan Shaw and James Mendeika – but if Jimmy needs me to play there again, then I'm up for it."

Ben Thaler, who hails from Wakefield, has been appointed to officiate Saturday's showdown at Belle Vue.
