JIMMY Lowes believes James Clare and Matt Ryan will give the Bulls vital Super League experience heading into the Super 8s.

Castleford winger Clare has signed a deal until the end of next season and Aussie centre Ryan will stay for the rest of this year after being released by Wakefield.

Head coach Lowes said: “I think it’s important going into the Super 8s that we have extra Super League experience.

“James is a young lad who is going to have a long future in the game. The opportunity became available and we grabbed him.

“He is very similar to Omari Caro in that he’s a finisher with good pace.

“Matt had a great year with Wakefield last year and has got a few games under his belt in Super League.

“Again, he became available and he offers us fantastic cover in the centres and back row.

“You want that competition for places and they certainly should lift what we do in training.”

Clare scored nine tries in seven appearances during a recent appearance on dual-reg for York City Knights.

He looks certain to make his debut in Sunday’s final-round trip to derby rivals Halifax.

The Castleford-born 24-year-old said: “I met Jimmy a couple of weeks ago and he didn’t really have to sell the club to me.

“From the outside, you could see what is going on here and what Bradford are trying to build. Hopefully I can be a part of getting the club back into Super League.

“Jimmy says the wingers here score a lot of tries and are given a lot of opportunities, so hopefully I can do my best there but I am just here to do what I can and I’m available wherever.”

Ryan joined Wakefield from Parramatta ahead of the 2014 campaign but he was shown the door this week when the Wildcats signed Bill Tupou from Canberra.

Sydney-born Ryan, 27, said: “It was a bit of a shock what happened at Wakefield but I got the opportunity to come here and couldn’t say no.

“I’m here to do a job for Bradford now and hopefully get them promoted to Super League.

“I just want to help the team out and push for a spot, give good competition in training and hopefully get a run and hold my place.

“I have filled in just about everywhere this year so it does not really matter, I just want to get out there and play.”

Ryan will not receive visa clearance in time to feature in Sunday’s trip to The Shay.

Meanwhile, Lowes has been fined £250 for his criticism of referee Chris Leatherbarrow following the recent defeat at Sheffield.

The suspended fine of £250 imposed upon the Bulls boss earlier this season for a similar offence has now been invoked in full.

Lowes has also been warned as to his future behaviour.
