OMARI Caro has joined the Bulls until the end of the season and immediately set his sights on securing a long-term deal.

The speedy former London Broncos and Hull KR winger looks certain to make his debut for Jimmy Lowes’ side in Sunday’s trip to Sheffield.

He is in excellent physical condition after playing rugby union for Blackheath and on the Rugby Sevens circuit since leaving Rovers at the end of last season.

The 24-year-old scored 20 tries in 21 Super League matches during his two-year stay at Craven Park but was shown the door at the end of last season.

Caro, who won Super League's Fastest Man in 2012 with a time of 10.28 seconds, will be forced to shelve his freelance sales job for the next few weeks at least.

He said: “My Hull KR contract ended and there was no communication between my representative and the club.

“I got phased out, which wasn’t ideal, but sport can be cut-throat and I loved every minute of my time at the Broncos and Hull KR.

“To make my debut at 19 and then play in Super League for the next four years was a dream come true.

“Jimmy called me about a month ago but I was going away for a few weeks, so I said I would give him a ring when I got back.

“I did that and the opportunity to come here was still there, so I took it with both hands.

“I came up on Monday night and I’ve felt good in training this week, so fingers crossed I’ll be involved against Sheffield. I’m ready to go.”

Caro is noted for his speed and finishing ability but as a youngster he was a talented footballer.

He explained: “I was at QPR for four or five years as a teenager and as a kid my passion was always football.

“I was born in west London so I’m a Chelsea fan but my passion is rugby now.

“I finished school and was waiting for my A-Level results before going to university.

“I had an open trial at the Broncos, signed academy forms that year and went full-time the following year.

“The Sevens circuit has been good and I’ve loved it. It’s a bit tough on the old lungs but I’ve played in Hong Kong, Miami and Carolina.

“I trialled at Cardiff Blues for a month and had an option to play at Newcastle Falcons but the timing wasn’t right and now I’m delighted to be at Bradford and seeing how far I can go.”

Head coach Lowes, who will not risk Lee Gaskell or Harry Siejka against Sheffield, said: “Omari got a bit disillusioned with the game after how it ended at Hull KR.

“But he’s keen as mustard to get back in and we’ve given him an opportunity here, so we will take it from there.

“His arrival just gets everyone looking over their shoulder.”
