ADAM Brook believes that helping Keighley to promotion this season could reignite his first-team opportunities at Odsal next year.

The Bulls scrum half has made a huge impression at Cougar Park, scoring four tries in three games to help Paul March's side to top spot in League One.

He initially joined on a one-month loan, as has Bulls team-mate Samir Tahraoui, but Brook will remain at Keighley for the rest of the campaign.

"I know where I am for the rest of the season now and it is better than coming and going, so I can just focus on helping Keighley to keep winning games," said 20-year-old Brook.

"My aim is stay in the team for the rest of the year and help the club to promotion.

"I'm still training full-time at Bradford as well as with Keighley in the evenings, so the more training I do the better.

"From a young age, I've realised as a half-back that the better team you play in, the more effective you can be.

"Here at Keighley we have a good set of forwards and backs who run good lines, so it makes my job easier – and it seems to be getting better every week alongside the likes of Paul Handforth, Brendon Rawlins, Rikki Sheriffe and Paul White.

"I played in a strong academy team at Bradford and that has helped set me up for coming to Cougars.

"The lads here have been good with me from the moment I've walked in – but it's even better knowing I'm settled here for the rest of the season.

"Promotion is now the goal because there will be a very good quality Championship next season, with the prospect of the Super League sides coming down.

"It would be great for Keighley to get back to where they belong in the Championship."

Brook, from Halifax, is under contract to Bradford for another season and has not considered the prospect of joining the Cougars on a permanent deal at the end of the current campaign.

The academy graduate, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for Bradford, said: "All I've thought about is playing well for Cougars for the rest of the year, which will hopefully put me in a better position at the end of the season.

"I've still got another year on my contract at Bradford but I would imagine Jimmy (Lowes) needs to see a bit more of me before he can make a judgement of me.

"I was pretty happy with my pre-season at Bradford this year but, like I said previously, it was always going to be tough to control that team as a 20-year-old half-back with the quality of players we have.

"I wasn't quite ready at the start of this season but I thought I had a good pre-season and Jimmy seemed pretty happy with me.

"I'll take that into next year and hopefully have another good pre-season – but also be more experienced with a greater game awareness in order to feature more regularly."
