SHEFFIELD Eagles have signed Bulls loose forward Dave Petersen on a one-month loan deal.

The versatile operator concluded formalities over the weekend and trained with his new team-mates yesterday morning.

The Hull-born player signed for the Bulls during the close season but injuries and a settled line-up have restricted his opportunities to date.

Eagles director of rugby Mark Aston has been looking to strengthen his ranks over the past few weeks and he admits that Petersen's thirst for action was a key factor in his decision to take the 23-year-old on loan.

"He is looking sharp and he trains at 100 per cent, so when you have got that attitude it is easy to fit in," said Aston.

"Dave is a smart kid so he has picked things up very quickly and he has fitted in really well so far.

"He will fetch with him a boatload of enthusiasm. He wants to play, so there will be plenty of enthusiasm from Dave and quality too."

Petersen can play in the second row and at hooker and boasts Super League experience from a spell with Hull Kingston Rovers in 2012.

"I have watched him over the years from his time with Hull KR in Super League and then in Australia before he came back," said Aston.

"We tried to get him in pre-season before Bradford snapped him up, so he is someone we have been interested in for a while."

Petersen spent the previous two years with Australian side Mackay Cutters and this season has had time on loan with League One side Oxford.
