NATHAN Conroy has joined Championship rivals Dewsbury on a one-month loan.

The 20-year-old hooker recently spent a month on loan at League One outfit Oxford but will now enjoy game-time at a higher level closer to home.

Bradford-born Conroy has featured just once for his hometown club this season after coming off the bench in the win at Batley in round five.

With Adam O’Brien enjoying an outstanding campaign and playing 80 minutes most weeks, Conroy and Vila Halafihi have struggled for game-time at Odsal this year.

Head coach Jimmy Lowes said: “Given the amount of competition for places we have here, Nathan’s opportunities are proving limited.

“I’m not of a fan of changing a team around if players are playing well and Adam O’Brien is doing a very good job.

“But I am mindful of the fact that Nathan needs to be playing and maintaining match fitness for when opportunities present themselves.

“He is a great guy and a talented player, so I am sure he will go well with Dewsbury and wish him well.”

Conroy is in contention to feature when the Rams take on Heavy Woollen rivals Batley Bulldogs at the Summer Bash on Sunday.

But he will not be eligible to play for Glenn Morrison's side against his parent club at Odsal on June 14.

Conroy, Adam Brook, Matty Blythe, Dave Petersen and Karl Davies have all spent time at Oxford in recent weeks.

Bradford announced a dual-reg partnership with Coventry Bears earlier this year.

The clubs said they would also work together on a "commercial basis" – but the link-up has failed to get off the ground.
