MATTY Blythe could come into contention to make his comeback for the Bulls in next week’s Summer Bash showdown with Halifax.

The centre yesterday copped a one-match suspension after submitting an early guilty plea for striking during Oxford’s 38-24 win over London Skolars on Sunday.

That will see him banned for the League One side’s trip to Rochdale on Saturday but he will hope to be considered for the Bulls’ trip to Bloomfield Road seven days later.

Blythe has played three times for Oxford as he continues his road back to full fitness.

The former Warrington man was struck down by an infection which left him hospitalised following a procedure he hoped would solve a back problem.

He was set for an operation which would have sidelined him until July but was cleared to play last month and has since played on dual registration alongside Dave Petersen, Nathan Conroy, Adam Brook and Karl Davies.

All five have turned out for Oxford in recent weeks as they seek to force their way into Jimmy Lowes’ plans, although Conroy and Petersen are currently carrying knocks and missed Sunday’s win over the Skolars.

Blythe and Davies both scored tries against the London outfit while scrum half Brook kicked five goals.

The Bulls, meanwhile, have less than 250 tickets left for the Summer Bash encounter with Halifax as they bid to hit their sales target of 2,000.

* The club collected £1,191 for the Danny Jones Fund during Sunday’s game at Whitehaven.

* Francis Cummins’ litigation against the Bulls will begin at Leeds County Court tomorrow, with former owner Omar Khan among those due to give evidence in the case.
