DALE Ferguson admitted he had a sleepless night before making his latest comeback for the Bulls during yesterday’s 40-4 win at Featherstone.

The former Huddersfield back-rower has endured a torturous time with injuries since joining Bradford but he enjoyed a successful 30-minute stint off the bench and laid on a try for Adam O’Brien.

Ferguson came through the match unscathed for Jimmy Lowes’ men and is confident his injury nightmares are a thing of the past.

The 26-year-old from Pontefract, said: “Obviously I’ve had a pretty rough time at Bradford, so to come back and get my first game under my belt is very pleasing.

“I had a bit of a sleepless night on Saturday because I was a bit worried about coming back and there is always that seed of doubt in your mind.

“You think ‘am I going to get injured again?’ but I’ve come through fine and hopefully I can kick on now.”

Ferguson has constantly been asked about his availability by Bulls fans on social media and he was delighted to finally prove his fitness.

He added: “They’re fans and they pay money to watch the games, so they’ve got every right to ask questions.

“You’ve just got to be honest and tell them as it is but it’s just about building up my minutes and game-time now.”

Skippered by Adrian Purtell in the absence of Chev Walker, who was missing with a knee injury, the Bulls’ obstinate defending kept Featherstone at bay during the opening quarter.

Tries from Purtell, Lee Gaskell and Chris Ulugia put them 18-0 up at half-time before O’Brien, Jean-Philippe Baile, Gaskell and Ulugia struck after the break.

Lowes said: “The first 20 minutes we made a lot of errors but we defended really well and that was the most pleasing aspect of the game in general – the defence.

“Gaskell was very good, as was Jake Mullaney alongside him, and Lee can play at any level. I almost took him to Leeds Carnegie a couple of years ago.

“I thought Adam Sidlow and Adam O’Brien were excellent again because this is a tough place to come.”

Epalahame Lauaki made his debut off the bench as the Bulls won emphatically in front of a bumper crowd of 6,346, with more than 1,000 visiting supporters.

Lowes added: “It’s baby steps with Lauaki and Dale. We’re comfortable with the amount of time they both played and we didn’t pick up any injuries, so it should be a similar team next week.”
