ROBBIE Hunter-Paul believes the Bulls are ready to turn Odsal into a fortress again heading into Sunday's visit of Whitehaven.

The club's chief executive said "no team took liberties" during his glorious playing days alongside current head coach Jimmy Lowes.

Hunter-Paul wants to recreate that feeling around the famous old stadium as the Bulls seek to bounce back from their opening-round defeat at Leigh.

The New Zealander said: "Jimmy will have the boys completely super-charged to play well at home this weekend.

"One of the things we always emphasised when Jimmy and I played together was that Odsal was our home, our patch of earth – this is who we are and we own it.

"No-one comes into your own backyard and takes liberties. That was the ethos we discussed when Jimmy came back to the club as head coach.

"He believes in that sort of stuff, we believe in it, and the journey at home starts this weekend with a lot of expectation on the boys' shoulders.

"They would have been disappointed with some of their performances last weekend and definitely disappointed with not getting the win.

"The boys are working extremely hard and ripping each other's heads off in training, which is only going to make them better on the field because they know that no-one's position is secure and everyone has to stand up and be counted.

"That makes for a stronger and more competitive squad who are going to deliver on the field.

"With each game that goes by, you're going to see those combinations increasingly coming together and we're on a journey almost over two seasons.

"There is the regular season and the Super Eights come the end of the year, so the players have got to work on their combinations and cement their place in Jimmy's plans.

"The pleasing thing for me is that even when we were winning the game during the first half at Leigh, we were nowhere near the finished article and the decision-making wasn't 100 per cent.

"But when they get it right, that's when we'll see the complete package and that will come with time."

The Bulls have sold well over 3,000 membership packages and it is hoped that Sunday's crowd will far exceed 4,000.

Hunter-Paul said: "We have put a lot of time and energy into Sunday and there will be an under-19s game against Catalans to kick-off the day at 12.30 and live entertainment by Beth McCarthy from The Voice.

"There will also be opportunities around the bars and concourses for fans to meet players – but it all comes back to what happens on the field."

Meanwhile, the Bulls yesterday declined to respond to Leigh rugby director Derek Beaumont's lengthy statement which followed Sunday's fiery encounter.

But the RFL have confirmed they are investigating numerous "off-field incidents" during Sunday's game and a number of on-field disciplinary charges are also expected today.
