HARRY Siejka was all smiles after making his first appearance for the Bulls in Sunday's friendly at Castleford.

The close-season signing from Wakefield had just delivered a performance which suggested he can form a potent partnership with Lee Gaskell.

"It was a good hit-out and exciting to pull on the jersey with this bunch of clowns," Siejka jokingly referred to his team-mates after the Tigers' 22-14 win.

"Gasky and I are pretty different players – but that's what you need as a half-back combo and it worked well.

"We roll around and change sides, it's not your normal left and right halves, and we're happy with that.

"We've been working on our partnership since the start of pre-season and it paid off for us in that first half on Sunday."

The Bulls were full of creativity and ideas as they scored three tries during the opening 40 minutes to lead 14-6.

"Jimmy (Lowes) was pretty impressed and the scoreline doesn't reflect the game too much in pre-season matches," said Aussie scrum half Siejka.

"We were all over them but in the second half we changed a lot of personnel and that disrupted us a bit.

"We were still pretty good and the sin-binning for Adam Brook was very harsh.

"Our main focus during pre-season has been on defence and it has been one of the toughest pre-seasons I've ever done.

"You could see on Sunday that we are a tough side and we came ready to play, which showed in that first half.

"In the second half we dropped a bit of ball but I thought our defence was pretty solid throughout."

Despite being sin-binned, home-grown scrum half Brook showed some promising touches.

Siejka said: "He's a really good player and very talented with the ball.

"He's nipping at my toes all day in training, so the more game-time he gets, the better it will be for him."
