AUSTRALIAN Schoolboys will go into their opening Test match against England with a helping hand from the Bulls.

Brian Batesse’s rookies are currently using the Bulls’ training facilities at Tong as they gear up to face England at Leigh Sports Village tomorrow.

They will play them again at Leigh in the second Test next Friday and they boast a 100 percent record from their three games on tour so far.

They have beaten the England Regional Academies team, Wigan Academy and Leeds Academy, and have looked impressive in doing so.

Spending time in Bradford came about as a result of the Bulls’ new performance analyst Lance Du’Lac’s links with the Australian National Squad, where he has worked previously.

Head coach Batesse, a former Salford player, said: “Traditionally we come every four years and the team was picked in July so there's been a long time getting ready for the tour.

“We've played against Cumbria, Wigan and Leeds so far and Tong is a sensational training facility – equal to anything in the NRL.

“We had connections through Lance and we were happy to come here.

“There are some talented players but a lot of them are really young.

“There are a few who will come back again but history shows it's those who get the message to work hard and be determined who get through.”

New Bulls recruit Harry Siejka previously represented Australia Schoolboys and Batesse added: “Harry came to watch us against Leeds on Tuesday and I pointed him out to the boys today.

“He was one of them on the last tour so it was nice for them to see him.”
