STEVE Ferres says he is "quietly confident" the Bulls will hit their target of 4,000 season-ticket holders for next year's Championship campaign.

The club last week passed the 2,000 mark as they moved closer towards achieving the figure they say they need in order to break even financially in 2015.

Managing director Ferres is cautiously optimistic about reaching 4,000 ahead of the Bulls' first campaign outside the top flight for 41 years.

"A figure of 4,000 is a big one for a Championship club but I think it's achievable with the quality of support that we've got," he said.

"There is a belief going around the place that we are moving forward, so I'm quietly confident that we'll get there before the season starts.

"We've made a massive commitment to run as a Super League club in the Championship.

"It needed the fans to fund it, basically, and we've now got 150 businesses giving discounts to our members.

"This provides excellent value for money and it's growing on a weekly basis.

"If membership sales continue to grow as they are doing at the moment, then we're pretty sure we will reach our target figure."

Ferres, meanwhile, believes new Bulls captain Chev Walker will "lead by example" next season.

The former Leeds and Great Britain player was unveiled to supporters as Jimmy Lowes' skipper at Odsal on Saturday.

"Chev is an outstanding individual who leads by example," said Ferres.

"He has all the attributes that you would look for in a captain. I'm sure he will prove an inspired choice."
