DAVE Petersen looks set to go head to head with Danny Addy for the loose forward berth at Odsal next season after revealing that is his preferred position.

The former Hull KR man has joined the Bulls from Australian Intrust Super Cup side Mackay Cutters on a one-year deal.

He can play hooker but head coach Jimmy Lowes has said he sees 22-year-old Petersen as a loose forward.

That suits the player fine – but he can expect some stiff competition from Addy, who recently spoke of his own desire to play there.

Petersen said: "From speaking to Jimmy during pre-season so far, we're going to look at me playing at loose forward and that was the case from the start.

"My main focus is now trying to secure that position. You're in the thick of everything at loose forward and that's the type of player I am.

"As much as I did like playing hooker over in Australia, it just took some of my work-rate out.

"There are a few less carries, so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in up the middle again and defending, which I love doing."

Petersen played with fellow new recruits Chris Ulugia and Karl Davies at the Cutters and has backed them to prosper at Bradford.

"Karl is a hard-working player who will always take you forward," he said.

"Chris is quick, his footwork is good and he's just what you want from a centre.

"They will definitely work hard for their position in the squad."
