PAUL Clough remembers coming to Odsal to see St Helens stuffed on a regular basis – now he wants to help the Bulls turn the stadium into a fortress once more.

The boyhood Saints fan would travel to support his home-town team and witnessed several hidings at the hands of Bradford's all-conquering team.

The close-season signing has joined Jimmy Lowes' side on a two-year deal after spending much of last term on loan at Widnes.

"I used to come here as a Saints fan and you pretty much knew you were going to get beaten," said prop forward Clough.

"Odsal has lost that in recent reasons but I think of Bradford Bulls and I think of Stuart Fielden, Leon Pryce, Tevita Vaikona.

"I think of Jimmy Lowes, Robbie and Henry Paul, Jamie Peacock, Paul Anderson and Brian McDermott.

"It's sad what has happened but hopefully we can get back to those days.

"It's going to be a rebuilding process but it's important that we improve as the season goes on and hit our targets.

"That means finishing top of the Championship and then getting back into Super League.

"Bradford are a great club who should still be in the top flight but circumstances have dictated otherwise.

"We can't sulk about that now. We have to hatch out a game plan to get back into Super League, hopefully at the first attempt."

Clough is one of ten players leaving Saints following their Grand Final victory over Wigan – as well as head coach Nathan Brown, who is returning to Australia for family reasons.

St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus said: "It is always difficult when any player leaves the Saints as they have become part of the family we have at the club.

"Our past players association ensures the links with these players are never forgotten and we look forward to welcoming them back to Langtree Park in the future."

Meanwhile, former Bulls Academy prospect Liam Darville has been rewarded for an excellent campaign at Keighley with a first-team contract for next season.

Darville left the Bulls last year to pursue a career as an apprentice electrician and play for the Cougars' under-20s side.

He has enjoyed a highly profitable campaign at Cougar Park, collecting the player of the year and players' player of the year awards after impressing at full back.

Darville will now push for a regular spot in the first team as Paul March's side bid to make an immediate return to the Championship following their relegation.
