LUKE Gale admitted the Bulls’ dramatic 46-36 win at London marked a fitting way to end their time in Super League.

The Castleford-bound scrum half claimed a four-try haul against his old club as Jimmy Lowes’ side avoided a humiliating defeat.

Nick Slyney’s try early in the second half put the Broncos 30-16 ahead and they edged 36-34 in front with only nine minutes remaining before Gale’s fourth and Manase Manuokafoa’s first try in over two years secured a thrilling victory.

Playmaker Gale said: “It was good to finish with a win. Jimmy gave us a bit of a blowing at half-time, which we knew we were going to get.

“It was a good win and a good send-off there for everyone. The boys were all on fire in the dressing room afterwards.

“I can remember saying that with about 30 minutes to go after they had scored, ‘boys, that feeling in there in 30 minutes time if we don’t pull ourselves out of it it will spoil everything. It will spoil the year, the weekend and it will spoil everything.’ “I said we can’t fail in those 30 minutes and we had to dig ourselves out of it. To be fair, they responded and we did dig ourselves out.”

Bradford will complete outside the top flight for the first time in 41 years next season after being relegated along with London.

Of their win at The Hive, 26-year-old Gale added: “It just sums up our season doesn’t it? We do everything the hard way!

“We nailed our game plan for the first 10 minutes and just did what we planned.

“We knew we’d break them down like that but then just probably took our foot off the gas and probably coasted a bit.

“To be fair to London, they don’t go away, they really don’t and we made it hard for ourselves.

“But in the end it all showed our character and we dug ourselves out of the bit of a hole we got ourselves in.”

Gale scored touched down twice in both halves and said: “I can’t remember if I ever have got a hat-trick before.

“I’ve had a couple of doubles and maybe I got a hat-trick in the Challenge Cup once.

“Even all the lads are saying it’s a bit weird as I might get the odd one but I’m not known for scoring tries, especially four.

“Half of them were back-ups anyway. It’s always good to get up the middle on the end of some as I’m normally setting them up so I was telling the lads to give me a bit of repayment here!”

Gale was delighted that Manuokafoa scored his first of the season, adding: “It was great for Nas. We do a mile ‘Nude Run’ and he was set for it again.

“Poor Nas, last year he needed a bottle of gaviscon and a set of new lungs after it!

“So he was just saying ‘Please, please, please just get me a try’ and then he scored in the last seconds off Adam O’Brien’s break.

“That’s why everyone went a bit mad at the end and the fans were fantastic as usual.

“Even coming out at the warm-up you knew how good they were going to be.

“They are fantastic home and away. We saw some on the motorway on Friday as we were coming down, loads of Bradford flags.

“They are a credit to the club and wherever this club goes, the fans will be there.

“I know it’s a bit of a cliché but it is like an extra man out there especially when you can get a bit of a roll on. You can really hear them and it’s great.”
