Tom Olbison will miss Sunday’s Tetley’s Challenge Cup fourth-round tie at home to Oldham after being handed a one-match ban.

The Bulls forward was found guilty by an RFL Disciplinary Tribunal of placing undue pressure on the neck of Danny Tickle during Sunday’s defeat at Widnes.

Olbison, who pleaded not guilty to Grade C dangerous contact, was also fined £300 after the tribunal downgraded the offence to Grade B following an appeal by the Bulls.

Dale Ferguson could come into contention to face Oldham after it was revealed he is six weeks ahead of schedule in his recovery from a back operation.

The Scotland international said: “I was initially told I could be looking at ten weeks on the sidelines, so to be informed I am getting close – just a couple of weeks after the operation – is very pleasing.

“It has been a massively frustrating period for me. I have only made one appearance so far this year and I was far from my best. But I am back in training, which is going well, and am now simply waiting for the message telling me I am clear to play.

“My focus is pretty much fixed on getting back to full health in the next couple of weeks or so and working my way into the team.”

Lee Gaskell, who sustained a knee injury against Wakefield on February 20, is also closing in on a return to full fitness.

Great news about Ferguson. Almost fit again six weeks ahead of schedule and just a week after the club come out of administration.

Notice the Wakefield player escaped a ban for a similar offence that Olbison committed. That wasn't much of a surprise though

And no communication with the fans,

Previously, maybe there was too much information, with several items coming out of Odsal every day, but since the arrival of Green and Ferres, it seems silence is golden.

It would be good to have something in between Robbie. Fans need to feel involved even if they can't be told all of the details for understandable reasons.

To answer your comment loadof.........
If you had read the article: You would have been more lenient in your viewpoint? I did not see the incident so can only believe what I read, however for the player to plead not gulity, and the Bulls to represent him at the tribunal, with the reduction of the offence to a grade B offence, must have led an onlooker to say the benefit of the doubt goes in the players favour, or is the fine and the ban an insult to the committee by even daring to question a decision.

Quote from the actual article:
The Bulls forward was found guilty by an RFL Disciplinary Tribunal of placing undue pressure on the neck of Danny Tickle during Sunday’s defeat at Widnes.

Olbison, who pleaded not guilty to Grade C dangerous contact, was also fined £300 after the tribunal downgraded the offence to Grade B following an appeal by the Bulls.

So will that change your post?
Maybe not!

We are still within touching distance of the two clubs above us relegation could still be avoided.I am sure the wheels are in motion on player recruitment but as Franny said, its still early in the season and S/L clubs are reluctant to release players at this moment in time,as this season the spectre of relegation is a possibility for the three clubs above us at least. So i would suggest that the most likely line of recruitment is from overseas if the budget runs to that.Robbie as been quoted as saying, Marc Green is not frightened with the prospect of relegation.Whatever that means. We can only draw our own conclusions .The only thing I have to add, is that whoever we bring in as to be '.the real deal' as we lost a couple of good forwards because of our unfortunate situation in Scruton and Carvel.

on the subject of disciplinary decisions, we should take a leaf out of the NRL 's book, points are allocated to offences and each case dealt with on merit, taking into account previous records and even injuries occurring from the offence.
A perfect example is the case of Melbourne Storm prop Jordan MaClean, for his part in the tackle on Newcastle's Alex McKinnon, read it for yourselves on the NRL website, MaClean has been handed a seven match ban,McKinnon may never walk again !!!
Hull KR owner has stated his views of our panel's judgements , some of what he says is right, too inconsistent, wake up RFL before we have something like the said injury at one of our games.

Are they preparing us for relegation ? Was that part of the deal done with Red Hall ? It certainly went through very quickly once the offer was made when with previous bids it took weeks for the RFL to ratify it ( or not ).

Don't forget relegation comes with a significant parachute payment which might appeal to some people who are not as committed to the Bulls as most of us are.

Conspiracy theory ? Maybe.

Pretty certain the financial benefit of being in SL far outweighs that in the championship, even with the parachute payment.
