An announcement on the Bulls’ ownership is expected today – with debenture holder Marc Green having emerged as the frontrunner to take control.

Mandy Koukash, a London-based consortium led by Richard Lamb and two other groups including senior figures from Bradford City and Bradford Park Avenue all made bids for the club.

But none of those parties had seen their offers accepted by administrator David Wilson as of last night, paving the way for Green to take up the challenge of keeping the Bulls in Super League.

Green’s company, Leeds-based Safeguard Security Group Ltd, is the Bulls’ biggest creditor following a loan it made to the club last September.

The loan was secured against the club by means of a debenture as the Bulls’ latest financial crisis began to unravel.

OK Bulls Ltd was placed into administration on January 31 after Green, managing director of SSG, appointed Wilson as administrator.

In a statement issued last week, Green revealed he has been working behind the scenes in an effort to broker a rescue deal.

He maintained that, had SSG not exercised its powers as debenture holders to appoint an administrator, the club would have been compulsorily wound up by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

It remains to be seen what level of financial support Green would be able to provide the Bulls with as they bid to bolster their threadbare squad with new signings in a bid to beat the drop.

* Bulls fans have started an online petition, which has already been sent to the administrator and the RFL, backing Mandy Koukash to take over at the club.
