Top nutritionist Ed Tooley has become the latest new recruit to the Bulls’ backroom team.

The highly-regarded 29-year-old works with a wide range of elite athletes and is currently part of England’s staff at the World Cup.

He will work with Francis Cummins’ players on a weekly basis, advising on food and diet as well as working closely with head of strength and conditioning Tom Clough.

Tooley is based in Wigan and also assists the Warriors on a consultancy basis similar to the role he will hold at Bradford.

He began working in rugby league with Wigan four years ago but also serves as the nutritionist for the England national team as well as clubs in the Aviva Premiership and RaboDirect Pro12.

Tooley said: “I also work with West Brom and Oxford United, plus the men and women’s GB basketball teams and 800 metres runner Jenny Meadows.”

He replaces David Dunne as the Bulls’ nutritionist and is relishing the role.

Tooley added: “I’m going to be working closely with Tom and basically helping the players to achieve what he wants them to achieve from a nutritional point of view.

“My work will complement his and vice-versa, so we will be looking at the players’ day-to-day habits and the food they eat at training and at home.

“It will be a case of the players not just doing what I advise them to do but also understanding the reasons why.

“Having met the lads and the rest of the staff, it’s clear that everyone at Bradford wants to push forward.”

Cummins said the recruitment of Tooley would further aid the Bulls' desire to provide the best level of care possible for their players.

“Again, it's about leaving no stone unturned and the expertise that Ed will bring to the club will benefit the players hugely,” added the head coach.

Meanwhile, Bulls duo Danny Addy and Dale Ferguson helped Scotland to a 20-8 victory over USA Tomahawks last night - putting the Bravehearts within touching distance of a quarter-final spot.

The Scots must now hope that Tonga can do them a huge favour by getting a result against Italy at The Shay on Sunday.

Scotland are currently two points in front of Italy, who have a superior points difference and will secure a quarter-final against New Zealand at Headingley next Friday if they beat the Tongans this weekend.
