Bradford Bulls players who weren’t paid their wages on Friday have been told the money is on its way.

Bulls players usually get paid on the 28th, but as this fell on a Sunday this month, they were expecting their wages on Friday.

Bosses at the club have blamed an administration error and said the players will be paid on "Monday or Tuesday".

The club’s rising star, John Bateman, took to Twitter to complain that his family holiday was in jeopardy because he hadn’t had his wages yet.

At around 5pm on Friday, back row forward Bateman, 19, tweeted: “So we get 4 days of since we have no game then you plan to go away with the family oh wait there .... No I can't becoz I ant been paid!!!!!!”

And at around 6pm he added: “Well it’s seems that they has been a error some where up at the club. So it due to be getting paid in on Monday.”

General manager Ryan Whitcut said: “The funding for the payroll this time didn’t get cleared in time to get the payments made (on Friday) but it will be done on Monday or Tuesday.

“In the contracts it says wages will be paid on or around the 28th of each month and that’s when it will be. It’s nothing to worry about”

The club’s deputy director, Robbie Hunter-Paul, tweeted: “So lets all draw a line under this now and spread the word. Wages are ready to go early next week. Which is end of month.”
