Bradford Bulls chief says players will be paid by Tuesday

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: John Bateman was not happy about the delay in his wages John Bateman was not happy about the delay in his wages

Bradford Bulls players who weren’t paid their wages on Friday have been told the money is on its way.

Bulls players usually get paid on the 28th, but as this fell on a Sunday this month, they were expecting their wages on Friday.

Bosses at the club have blamed an administration error and said the players will be paid on "Monday or Tuesday".

The club’s rising star, John Bateman, took to Twitter to complain that his family holiday was in jeopardy because he hadn’t had his wages yet.

At around 5pm on Friday, back row forward Bateman, 19, tweeted: “So we get 4 days of since we have no game then you plan to go away with the family oh wait there .... No I can't becoz I ant been paid!!!!!!”

And at around 6pm he added: “Well it’s seems that they has been a error some where up at the club. So it due to be getting paid in on Monday.”

General manager Ryan Whitcut said: “The funding for the payroll this time didn’t get cleared in time to get the payments made (on Friday) but it will be done on Monday or Tuesday.

“In the contracts it says wages will be paid on or around the 28th of each month and that’s when it will be. It’s nothing to worry about”

The club’s deputy director, Robbie Hunter-Paul, tweeted: “So lets all draw a line under this now and spread the word. Wages are ready to go early next week. Which is end of month.”

These errors should not happen at the club and players should not be anouncing this on twitter or any where else io hope Mr Paul Stamps this out

They should contact the people at the club and sort it out we as a club need to be more profesional in aproaching this subject

Not to let it happen again this is not good publicity for a player or the club

Tiny toonster, what do you do when your giro payments are late. ALL businesses have problems paying salaries on occasions. Plus did you notice no other player complained through a social media site. No, they'd have rung the office. Immature behaviour.

As to cash problems, are you so thick as not to realise players would not sign for the club, if no cash available.

This is a bad situation for a young family late money etc. but it is not something to be broadcast to all and sundry. He needed to contact the club and find out what was going on, it was obviously an admin error as he reported later. This sort of thing happens in all walks of life and is an employer/employee issue, he should not try and discredit the club in the public eye. I use Facebook and Twitter but too many people use them for the wrong reasons. It's a good job he doesn't get payed on appearances or he would be down on funds this year.
I thought he says he loves the bulls and wants to be there but to me this sounds possibly like the rumblings of another Whitehead situation.

did you see the story on bulls site about restructure. Does it mean Robbie's remit covers everything not just marketing? Also does GS have a position still he wasn't mentioned, thought he was a director rather than just on chair
re the above story don't some cricket/rugby union clubs have no social media policies. Might not be a bad idea twitter use hasn't really helped anyone over last 6 months

Bit ambivalent about all this. For example if you are normaly paid on the 28th of the month why begin to make a fuss until pay day? Of course as the club must have traditionally paid on the Friday if paydate fell on Sat or Sun. I can see the logic, of Batemans feelings but not his public criticism it's a little bit on the malicious side, isn't it?:
He could just have talked himself out of a job..He might have to learn that no one is actually indispensible.

The time to complain is when they don't get paid at all! But it couldn't come at a worse time in the "shooting yourself in the foot stakes" could it?
However how could the Bulls continue to sign players and keep the club going if money wasn't available to the operation!

He might well have done himself no favours here. He is not indispensable. He has had injuries this year but so far he has been poor.
