8:42pm

Cummins heaped praise on Brett Kearney, who has now scored in all three matches so far this season and took his tally to five with the hat-trick.

"He's a quality player - he's huge," added the Bulls coach.

"He catches the ball well and runs with it and defends everywhere."

8:42pm

Cummins said: "We were a bit edgy when we get down there (near the line).

"We're trying to score a try all the time when if we ask a few questions, we'll get there.

"We just need a little bit more direction at times.

"I liked some of the stuff - we were skilful and made a couple of good off-loads but our structure just went away from us at times."

8:41pm

Francis Cummins said afterwards the Bulls need to be more ruthless when attacking their opponents' try-line...

6:36pm

Bradford Bulls 38, Castleford Tigers 12

Brett Kearney scored a superb hat-trick the Bulls edged a fraught encounter to claim their second Super League win of the season.

The Aussie full back opened the scoring and touched down twice again in the second half as Francis Cummins’ survived the first-half sinbinning of Danny Addy to coast to an ultimately comfortable win.

Tries from Kearney and Adam Sidlow helped the Bulls into a 12-6 interval lead but Castleford were game opponents and recovered well from the early loss to injury of Gareth O’Brien.

They scored through Jamie Ellis in the 27th minute and levelled the scores after the break through Kirk Dixon.

Yet the Bulls began to move through the gears and struck through Matty Blythe and Chev Walker before Kearney scored twice to complete his treble.

Ian Millward’s men were boosted by the return of O'Brien in the second half but were not helped by the second-half sinbinnings of Ellis and Justin Carney as the Bulls ran out worthy and emphatic victors.

The score flattered us, thought it was going to be nip and tuck till the end. Saying that, we did play some good rugby. Chev Walker has been fantastic at loose forward so far, he is like a new signing. Scruton has been playing well too, bring on saints. COYB

Yes Nosher the score did flatter us but it could have been more had Sammutt controlled the ball when he swallow dived! and I`ve seen Diskin`s disallowed touch down allowed before now. Also Cas`s second try was as a result of a blatent forward pass.
Chev Walker and Brett Kearney were immense.
Defensively we were sound but we need Luke Gale back as a lynchpin to orchestrate, Addy is just not up to it and when Kearney was not his partner Sammutt was quiet. But we can`t ask for anymore the Tigers beat the Whinos less than week ago and it looked like they fancied their chances against us. COYB

Good result all round, not sure I like the rule about putting the teams on a warning though.

3 sin bins in one game makes it look like an ill disciplined affair? It wasn't really at all like that, and to lose a pivotal player for an infringement that isn't, I counted two or three of these so called infringements that at best were down to interpretation that at one time would have been classed as a 50-50 call, by the referee.
I thought Addy's and Ellis's sin bins were over the top, . As neither player was the alleged guilty party.

Still we were the better team and fully deserved the win.

good to see us stick to game plan and not panick.as usual it was the ganson show boy does he like the sound of his own whistle.why cant refs just be consistent instead they pick on trivial points and miss the fundamentals ie forward passes.an american quarter back would have been proud of that pass last night.what were the touch judges doing last night apart from sod all or is it that ganson doesnt take any notice of them coyb

W B has been gagged.
Tough call at times last night, think Millward had Cas lifted from beating L**ds last week, believe Addy is better at loose forward.

After City`s result yesterday maybe he will change his name to "Fourthdivision again" or "Conference bound"
Whatever, he will change it to something else.
