Jamie Langley believes new recruit Adam Sidlow will add some much-needed beef to the Bulls’ pack this coming season.

Sidlow, an imposing figure at 6ft 4in and more than 17 stone, is gearing up for a big campaign after joining the club on a two-year deal from Salford City Reds.

His arrival goes some way towards filling the void left by the departures of Craig Kopczak, Bryn Hargreaves and Tom Burgess.

Langley, the Bulls’ longest-serving player, has backed Sidlow to prosper as he gears up for his debut at Dewsbury in Sunday’s opening pre-season friendly.

“Adam’s a really big lad and is going to add a lot of size to our pack,” he said.

“We were looking a bit thin in the front-row department and myself and Chev Walker were probably looking like the two other guys who were going to have to fill in that role.

“It’s nice to see Adam coming along and bolstering us up front. He’s a good player with a good skill set and a nice offload.

“He’s a handful, so he attracts a lot of players round him. I’m really looking forward to playing with him and hopefully he can bring something to the squad.”

Langley has long been recognised as the Bulls’ undisputed first-choice loose forward but Danny Addy and James Donaldson are now pushing him for that role.

And Langley could be required in the front row with the Bulls lighter than ever in that department after Ben Evans was ruled out for four months due to injury.

“At loose forward, you play as an extra middle man anyway these days,” said Langley.

“You have your two front-rowers and your loose forward, so you end up playing with three middle men.

“That’s the way the game is now; it’s that physical and fast that you need that extra man filling in around rucks.

“It’s not dissimilar to the front row position but I can play a bit wider out in the back row if I need to.

“I’m happy to be playing anywhere really, as long as I can get my hands on the ball and get stuck in defensively.”
