Matty Blythe has tipped fellow Bulls newcomer Jamie Foster to prove a hit at Odsal in 2013.

Both men are gearing up for big seasons after being recruited by Francis Cummins and Blythe admits he has been impressed with Foster so far.

Blythe has joined Bradford on a season-long loan deal from Warrington and is glad to have Foster, signed on a one-year permanent contract from St Helens, as a team-mate rather than an opponent.

“We knew what kind of player Jamie was at St Helens,” said Wolves centre Blythe.

“He was very elusive and deceptively strong. His kicking is superb and he can score tries.

“He’s a good winger and he still thinks he needs to prove himself to the world of rugby league.”

Foster has at times been a target for opposition supporters because of his colourful image.

But Blythe said that behind all that was a steely determination to succeed in his rugby league career first and foremost.

Foster proved his class when Hull FC coach Peter Gentle took him on loan in the final third of last season.

He played nine consecutive games, scoring five tries and kicking 45 goals in amassing an impressive tally of 110 points to help Hull reach the play-offs.

Blythe said: “People may perceive Jamie as a bit cocky but he’s got his head screwed on.

“He’s aware of how hard it’s going to be this year to impress. But he’s settled in really well and is on the right path.”
