Bulls coach Francis Cummins reckons Adam Sidlow’s best days are ahead of him following his arrival from Salford City Reds.

The imposing prop last week became a Bradford player after signing a two-year deal, much to the delight of Cummins.

The Bulls chief had been eagerly pursuing the 25-year-old Wiganer for several weeks after it became apparent that the City Reds were willing to release him from the final year of his contract.

Prop forwards typically do not mature until their mid to late twenties and Cummins believes the Bulls will reap the benefits as Sidlow enters his prime.

He said: “Adam is 25 years old but he has already got plenty of experience from his time at Salford.

“I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet and I’ve talked to him about how he can improve his game and how he needs to take the next step.

“I need him to become one of my main men who I can rely on to help the likes of Ben Evans and some of the other young lads in the squad.

“People want to come here but they’ve got to be the right fit for Bradford and Adam most certainly is that. His attitude has impressed me from the outset.”

Cummins has admitted, meanwhile, that Sidlow is likely to be the final addition to his squad before the new season kicks off.

The Bulls coach has so far brought in Sidlow and Jamie Foster on permanent deals and signed Warrington duo Matty Blythe and Ben Evans on season-long loans.

He has also promoted three juniors in Sam Wood, Curtis Naughton and Oliver Roberts into his senior squad, with Sidlow’s arrival giving Cummins 27 first-team players to pick from.

The Bulls coach added: “I think the budget is spent now.

“Maybe things could happen further down the line with other clubs wanting to do certain things but at the moment that’s it.

“I’m happy with what we’ve got and at the end of the day once your money is gone that’s it.

“There maybe other things further down the line but we’ll have to see.

“I’m really happy with the players I have and the attitude and desire they have showed during pre-season.”
