Bradford Bulls: Matt Diskin ready to ‘rock a few boats’ next season
8:00am Friday 23rd November 2012 in Bulls
By Ross Heppenstall, Bradford Bulls Reporter
Matt Diskin says the Bulls' core squad of 17 is a match for most sides in Super League
Matt Diskin believes the Bulls are capable of causing a few surprises in 2013 – despite a lack of numbers in their squad.
New coach Francis Cummins has seen a raft of players leave since the end of last season, including forwards Bryn Hargreaves, Olivier Elima, Craig Kopczak and Tom Burgess.
He has since promoted three juniors into the first-team squad, taken Warrington duo Matty Blythe and Ben Evans on season-long loans and signed Jamie Foster from St Helens on a one-year deal.
Although the squad remains light on numbers, the core has remained intact and joint-skipper Diskin feels the Bulls’ top 17 players can give anyone a game.
The former Leeds hooker, a veteran of four Super League titles during his long association with the Rhinos, said: “It’s a really small squad so we’ve got to look after ourselves and make sure we do the right things physically.
“We’re aware of that and we know we’ve got our backs against the wall with regards to squad size.
“We’re not going to be unrealistic and say we’re going to finish in the top two.
“But you look at the first 17 and it’s a very talented team.
“If we start off on the right footing then we might cause a few surprises.
“Yes, the squad is threadbare, we are under no illusions about that, but with that starting 17 we are certainly capable of rocking a few boats.”
The Bulls could have been liquidated had Omar Khan not stepped in to buy the club from administrator Brendan Guilfoyle at the beginning of September.
Cummins is now gradually rebuilding the club from the wreckage of administration and the loss of so many players.
At least one new prop is set to be recruited but Diskin echoed his coach’s sentiments about signing the right calibre of player.
Diskin added: “We could bring in players to fill positions where we might be a bit thin but it’s all about building for the future with the right players.
“If the right person comes along that has the right attitude and right frame of mind to improve this team then I’m sure Franny will consider him.”
Meanwhile, the Bulls have sold around 4,300 individual season tickets ahead of the early-bird deadline which runs until 5pm on December 1.
However, it is understood that figure could be closer to 6,000 when corporate sales from the Coral Stand are taken into account.
The club is aiming to sell at least 10,000 season tickets before the 2013 season starts in February.

Diskin is totally correct. There's some really useful players in the squad that can give anyone a game.
Those, like myself, calling for more props are not being negative, they're pointing out the basic fact that all the really positive stuff both on and off the field will be wasted unless he gets some bodies into the middle of the park.

I Am The Glorious King Of Rugby League - League Freak
There are times in your life when you will be fortunate enough to meet one of those people. The type of people that make things happen. The type of people that others speak of in glowing terms, speaking of their achievements with enthusiasm and awe.
Consider today your day my friend...
I am The Glorious League Freak.
Some would suggest I am infamous among British Rugby League types. My opinions are not always popular, and I always don't care about that. The important thing is that I am always right about the direction the game is going in.
Look at the current financial troubles within all levels of Rugby League in Great Britain. I was warning of this years ago. While everyone else was looking to the cheerleaders within the English press that happily painted a rosy picture, I was the only one laying out the raw facts of the matter.
A lot of people didn't like that. The thing is, I knew I was right, and have been proven to be right time and time again.
I used to frequent Rugby League forums but I find I just can't be bothered explaining to people in thread after thread about what's what in Rugby League. These days I tend to stick to my Twitter feed, my Facebook page, and my incredibly successful web site which is located at http://www.leaguefre
ak.com
That is all I need to say really.

As to being stupid, mindless, my troll friend, I am not, having worked for over 40 years, which I doubt you do, work that is.
As to your quote, I'll finish it, " while bigger fools watch on in sympathy wishing they could do the same "
So once again you are using another name, FAKE. You'll never learn.

The restaurant is not the issue,( in fact there is an Italian restaurant that serves halal food>) The culture at our stadium is..so you can spout off your tripe as much as you like, but until you are at one of the functions at Odsal to witness the situation there. You are certainly not qualified to talk are you?
But if you do decide to come to our Stadium (Ladies night is the 1st December) I am sure there are many people who would like to have a lively discussion with you!

Same goes for the Crookes bit, the gist of the article was how I summed it up. I don't have time like a loser like you to post word for word.
As far as the OK eatery goes, I couldn't tell you who wears what in these places. I don't eat in them, I am a bit more disconcerting what and where I eat, unlike the clientèle who dare to venture there, shudder.
