David Wetherall needs you - to buy a City season ticket.

Wetherall is the public face of the club's drive to make sure fans beat the June 15 deadline for the 9,000 target that will trigger the "buy one, get one free" offer.

The face of the newly-retired skipper appears on stickers depicted as City's version of Lord Kitchener in a reworking of the famous World War One slogan "Your country needs you."

Season-ticket sales have passed the 4,400 mark, including over 3,400 adults. City have noticed an upturn since the curtain came down last week and are hoping that momentum will quickly build up.

They are keen to avoid a last-minute scramble as the £150 season-ticket offer approaches its deadline.

Head of operations David Baldwin said: "Sales have picked up after the end of the season and it's better to have a steady flow than a massive late influx.

"There's no need for us to be 25 deep at five desks on the final day. We're here and open for business from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday as well as weekends."

Every fan who buys a season ticket will be given a free Wetherall sticker - and the chance to win prizes.

City will have a team of spotters around the area looking for the stickers on display.

"We're going to put 50 prizes up for grabs that will be drawn on June 15," added Baldwin. "They will be gifts that fans enjoy from the very small ones like a Bradford City mug to a signed shirt or even a full refund on your season ticket.

"The competition is open to anybody who buys a season ticket. Those who've already got one just need to show their voucher at the ground and they will get a sticker."

City are keen to keep the season-ticket push in the public eye and have enlisted the help of a group of fans, who have produced their own poster. The supporters were due to start distributing copies today around pubs, clubs and houses.

City are also planning an open weekend, giving supporters the chance to look behind the scenes at Valley Parade.

The club have been operating on last year's ticket database and are aware that a number of fans have not received an application form. They are available direct from Baldwin, who is also laying on 2,000 blank forms at the ground from a distribution point away from the ticket office windows.

Ticket office weekend opening times up to the deadline will be: 9am to 2pm for the next three Saturdays and 10am to 2pm on those Sundays. Then from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays, June 7 and 14 and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays, June 8 and 15.

  • Five hundred commemorative David Wetherall posters will be available from Tuesday for £2. There will also be a few special editions signed by the first-team coach priced £10.

No. I am one of the sensible people. It is now getting both a joke and an insult to use Kitchener to promote ticket sales. It just is unbelievable as to what extent they will go to. Posters at £2, what next that is definately the move of desperate people.

Really, not just marketing to notch up a few pounds that would otherwise not have been earned? You are the joke, and an insult to right minded folk, about time you stated your reasons for such ridiculous bile everytime something is announced by the club. I'd love to meet you, want me to come for a pint in the Midland or some other watering hole, maybe we could take our discussion into Myrtle Park and thrash it out good and proper. Accept and I will certainly turn up so you can enlighten me on your viewpoint and I can unburden mine upon you. That is a good offer. It really is free and you don't need to buy anything, well not before we meet.

...But perhaps not as desparate as you to constantly chide every single bcfc article that's on here, bar none. Whoever you are and regardless of whatever team you support, you rarely, if ever, back up your arguments. Perhaps if you spent as much time being creative as you are destructive, you may be regarded as a contributor. As it stands, until you can convey some reasoned argument, your provokation is nothing short of cretinous and suspect is largely unwelcome by the majority of folk on here.

As far as the article goes and whilst having reservations about the 9K BOGOF deal, I wish the staff at the ticket office, all the very best of British; you're going to need it come the 13/14th June. Here's to a buzzing full stadium next season.

you stupid prat. How on earth can you be offended that city are looking to promote their scheme?

I can just imagine you getting angry when you walk into Morrisons to do your shopping and get angry at the posters up urging you to buy on get one free on jaffa cakes "What a joke - it's unbelievable as to what extent they will go to!"

Like all forms of advertising and marketing, it's trying to appeal to a certain set of people. In this case people who might be interested in BUYING a season ticket. because you have no interest, this idea doesn't appeal to you. that doesn't make it bad though.

To everyone else on here - is there a way this guy can be banned from posting on here? I'm all for democracy, but this guy is talking absolute rubbish and trying to offend people who don't deserve it. I can just picture the news breaking on this site, on June 15, that City have smashed the 9,000 barrier and everyone gets a ticket. Underneath will be a comment from Mr Sensible that the club are lying and are a disgrace.

just stop your pathetic campaign. it;s boring, offensive and lacking in any value. you don't like BCFC, big deal. Get over yourself and stick to your own club.

Someone asked me to film the stewarding standards on my mobile and post them on youtube.

How is that possible when I am boycotting the club and the ground indefinitely till something is done. I am not the only one to avoid Valley Parade because of the stewarding.

There are plenty of alternatives. The pub, great atmosphere in the right pub, a cold pint, yes alcohol while watching the footie, now none smoking, by the way I contacted the club previously about smoking in none smoking areas before, they were not interested. No idiot trying to spoil it for anyone, but if they did, they wouldn't again.

None league football like Avenue, you can even mingle amongst the away fans.

Rugby league, you can even drink alcohol in view of the game. My, what liberties you can have at a game up at Odsal. AND the stewards at Odsal, just like Horsfall enjoy the day and like it when others do.

So when I think it was Waynus tried to have a dig that I will be watching on TV, so what, who cares, because you know what. I WILL BE ENJOYING MYSELF and noone will try and stop me or the others around me.

Out of all the stadiums I have been to since the mid 80s, I used to really enjoy Valley Parade, but since the Premiership days, god what bunch of whining sods everyone is now. It has taken the stewards to break the camels back and made me realise how little I have enjoyed going to watch football at Valley Parade. Loyalty, I have given for 20yrs, no more I say, no more, I will go now to ENJOY it, not to watch bullying from the stewards, listen to their omnipotent existence. I will put my money into a club that really cares about its fans. City obviously doesn't.

Guaranteed at £75 a ticket I would not even spend a penny.

Oh another thing. You said Waynus that people are not allowed in with glass bottles and cans, and that noone has ever any aggro from the stewards if they behave. Yeah right, I have seen it too often. I wont argue about your statement. But can you try and argue the fact that I was streated like a thief after buying 2 scarves from the shop and trying to walk into the ground. I HAD to explain to the idiot that the receit was in the bag and had to explain myself just to walk into the ground, even though my season ticket was in my other hand. Then again if Sherlock Holmes was there, I am sure he would see someone carrying a season ticket with half a season to go as a definite trouble maker.

YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS WILL BE SOLD FOR £75 IF CITY ARE SUCCESSFUL.

A message to Mr Sensible...how ironic that you should use the word'insult'in your latest drivel. To use the date of the fire anniversary to post your latest jibe at the club is the real insult. Weatherall was at the memorial this morning - perhaps you should have used the opportunity to verbally abuse his involvement in this initiative (assuming you know what he looks like). Today we commemorate 56 true football supporters - as for you - go crawl back under the stone you came from.

I have jose. I have had no reply, I have had concerns at the failings of them, even in the interest of the club, there was a period earlier in the season where supporters were throwing things onto the pitch, the stewards should STOP these idiots and not concentrate on little kids putting their feet on the chairs. Did I get a reply for my concerns. NO. I sent a lengthy letter on my treatment to the club and I got nothing. I also know Mark Lawn reads these pages and has the club even assured us on how WE are treated at Valley Parade, again the answer is NO.

So now I my money is going to do the talking, ie go into the coffers at Odsal and Horsfall and other football grounds locally. I could watch a local derby half hour down the motorway for more or less the same it costs to get into Valley Parade on the day, now this is easy sums, which would offer better value for money, 2nd division football or 4th? I have had little respect from City after putting god knows how many thousands into the club over the years. No more I say. NO MORE.

If you are reading this Mr Lawn. Here is a simple maths question for you.

How much have the stewards cost the club, past, present and future in their handling of supporters?

Answers at the usual address please. Anyone else care to answer it, I will get you going, my season ticket for the coming season is not getting renewed because od the stewards alone, possible the next season after that and the season after that, and so on till something is done. Now multiply it by the other EX-supporters I know for a fact that have had enough of the stewards. Fill you r ground with "fans" that are not really interested in the football or the club, where will they be when the novelty wears off or you put the prices back to "normal". I know many true supporters that have started going to watch Town or Leeds or just do not go anymore to the football because of their disillusionment.

By the way before anyone points it out, I know i spelt receipt wrong.

Told you the stewards are Nazis, now we have an image in the mould of Kitchener to get people's attention. I am just waiting to see the Red Baron fly through the clouds above Mannigham Lane. The new stadium sponsor is Colditz. Come to think of it, no other organisation I have witnessed has treated their PAYING customers as I have witnessed over the past few seasons at Valley Parade.

Re comments by 'Wayne Jacobs'.Whilst acknowledging that the stewards are over zealous to say the least I can't quite see hoards of City fans disappearing to LUFC & HTFC. After all if you are a true supporter of the club would you allow a man in an orange jacket prevent you from watching them?? If so then perhaps labelling yourself as a true supporter is a tad inaccurate.

I no longer class myself as a supporter keeponclucking.

I HAVE JUST HAD ENOUGH.

I don't need it, and I don't want to see it after a stressfull week at work. I have been going to the football for years to unwind, to enjoy it, to shout, to cheer the lads on, to feel the high of winning and the lows of losing.

I never said hoards have gone to McAlpine or Beeston, only some, but I do know quite a few that have stopped going altogether and prefer to go with the lads to the pub on a Saturday afternoon, not to mention not having to trail and rush for midweek matches straight after work.

Therefore, me a true supporter.

I WAS, NOT ANYMORE.
