Stuart McCall is happy to bring in a couple of long-term loans as part of his squad-building plans.
Hereford's unlikely promotion success has shown that borrowing hungry young players over longer spells can pay off.
McCall would love to bring back Scott Loach for another year from Watford and is not ruling out the possibility of a couple of temporary additions. Ben Starosta could also have a chance of returning if he is not in the picture at Sheffield United.
But McCall would like to get any loan players in for the whole term.
He said: "Ideally I want people who are here over a long period and will grow and progress with the club. But if you're getting someone on loan for the season, it's no different to signing them on a year's contract.
"There are areas of the squad that I know need to be strengthened but we may decide to go down that road of bringing in a couple of loans."
With all the keepers cleared out, McCall will need two replacements, and one long-term loan there would make sense.
Today's opponents Wycombe have got into the top seven thanks to the form of borrowed Blackburn keeper Frank Fielding, who has been outstanding since making a stunning debut at Valley Parade in September.
Stockport, another play-off contender, have utilised Everton's third-choice keeper John Ruddy.
Loach would be McCall's number one choice but that depends on Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd.
Nobody has used the loan market more than Hereford, who have unearthed some gems in the likes of Theo Robinson, who McCall just missed out on last year, Sherjil MacDonald, Toumani Diagouraga and Gary Hooper.
McCall added: "Obviously you look at how MK Dons and Peterborough have gone up because they've had a little bit more finance than most. I know that doesn't guarantee success and you have to spend wisely but it certainly helps.
"But Hereford have probably had one of the smallest squads in the division. Instead they have gone down the loan route and been very effective with it.
"A lot of those players are up in the summer and they will probably get offered deals now."

As for Nicky Law, I would definitely welcome him back on a season long loan, though I doubt we would be able to get him.
I have no problem with season long loans. Although hope Starosta doesn't come back, I don't think he was a bad player but I do feel we can do better than him. Perhaps Nathan Doyle from Hull?
Getting Loach back would obviously be a fantastic coup and hopefully the fact he's enjoyed his time here will be a big pull for him. Nicky Law would be another worth looking at if he's not getting in the team at Sheff U.
It's all about getting the best calibre of footballer possible at this club and if we can get a better player on loan than signed and it will help us get promotion then we should! I think it's rubbish when players say loanees don't care, they are still trying to impress their parent clubs or other teams if they haven't got a future at their current club.

A tough tackling strong midfielder, or right back and also covered central defence at the beginning of last season. I think we should try to snap him up permanently or at least a 2 months loan.
And obviously I meant, 'mean' and not 'means' there too. I'm having a nightmare on the typing today.
Anyway yes I do fear both Loach and Law would be able to get loans at clubs in higher leagues if not even push for a place in their own team.
However Doyle is out of the picture at Hull and I'm not sure how many other clubs would be that interested as he hasn't had much of a chance to make a name for himself. After all Hull only came in for him after Deano's reccomendation. Also being as versatile as he is he could offer cover if needed in areas other than the right back slot.

What about Gazza I think he would fit in with the shambles at City. Understand they were sorry when they realised Stanley Matthews had passed away as they were going to get him on loan. They should be content with a loan from HSBC. See Town have sold 9,000 season tickets on the great offer they had, buy one and only get one, obviously coy folk in Huddersfield.
