Dons are perfect guests on a special day

The last home game of the season is always a good occasion but Saturday should be even better.

Wethers deserves all the accolades he's going to get when he leads us out at Valley Parade for one final time.

And the fact that MK Dons need a win to clinch the title will make the afternoon even more special.

The Dons have proved over the season that they are the strongest team and it will be a good marker for us looking ahead to next season.

Their away record is phenomenal and it would be a great scalp for us. But we've been in a pretty good run of form ourselves, not giving much away, so we'll have a real go.

We've picked up at home with three wins out of the last four and that's what we need to do if we're going to be successful.

Even when things haven't gone so well, we've still ground out results, like the win over Grimsby. Joe's goal in the last minute capped off the comeback brilliantly and was the start of a great week for him.

I'm really pleased that he was named player of the year. He will run through a brick wall for you and has thoroughly deserved the award.

It's been a great story for Joe after he went out on loan at the start of the season. He was probably wondering where it would go from there but since coming back he's been on top form, especially away from home.

Being a local lad, I can appreciate that special buzz you feel when things are going well. People are talking about him now and Joe is riding on the crest of a wave.

I just hope we can hold on to him because I'm sure other clubs will be mentioning him.

He's been excellent for us over a good period of time, not just a flash in the pan for a couple of games.

I'm sure Joe is the sort of player the gaffer wants to build his team around for next season. He's got so much energy and commitment and it's good to see him getting his reward for that.
