Important we don't get ahead of ourselves

Forget any mention of the play-offs and just make sure we beat Bury.

I know it's an old football cliché but we must take one game at a time and cannot afford to look any further.

We've had some good solid performances in the last few weeks as well as that bit of luck going our way. And you can see what stringing a few results together does for the league position.

That's obviously got a few people excited and there's no reason, with the fixtures we've got coming up, that we cannot carry on the run.

But nobody is going to get carried away and, for us, Saturday's game against Bury is all that matters.

I don't think anyone has given up on the season and there is still a big chunk to go. You can quickly shoot up the table with a good run as we've seen with the likes of Rochdale and Morecambe.

Keeping free of injuries and suspensions is particularly important at this time of the year. There will be some clubs who can't handle losing a few players because they haven't got enough cover.

But we've got a big squad here which can cope and that should stand us in good stead over the remaining months.

I'm the only real casualty at the moment and hopefully it won't be too long before I can get back into contention.

I've been able to step things up this week with a bit of straight running again. It's nice to get off the treadmill in the gym and back outside and I feel like I'm making progress.

The bad weather has meant a lot of us have been stuck inside and it was good to go down the training ground. Seeing the lads kicking a ball about just makes you a little bit more eager to get back to full fitness and joining in again.

But I've still got a couple of weeks of running to do before I can hope to catch up. My leg is still a bit of a twig and the muscle needs building up but at least I can see an improvement day-on-day.
