WHAT a great result at MK Dons and one that we needed after losing the last couple at home.

Everyone must have been thinking “oh no” when James Hanson had to drop out but the lads all pulled together to beat a very good team.

A lot of people talk about us hitting long balls to Hanson and say that we have no plan B without that. Well I think Tuesday night shut the critics up.

It’s so important you keep a level head and don’t get too high when you win or too low after defeats. But we’re ticking over nicely right now.

Don’t forget MK Dons have been on a great run and any team that beats Manchester United 4-0 on their own patch are going to be decent.

I was really pleased for the lads at the back who worked so hard. I saw the manager at the training ground the other day and he had them practising corners and clearing them.

People just expect you to do that all the time as a player but you have to keep working on it to improve. MK had 14 corners so that practice clearly paid off.

That win has given everyone great confidence going into the next two away games. Our form away from Valley Parade has been better than at home and I think there’s a bit of pressure off.

Fans get frustrated if it’s not going well at home and the atmosphere goes a little bit dour. That’s not just us, it happens with every team and the players do sense it on the pitch.

I’d like to wish my brother Mark all the best for the future now that he’s decided to retire from cricket after a bad shoulder injury.

He’s 33 and was out of contract at Kent so was considering it anyway but he’s had a good career with 109 first class games and over 300 wickets.

When we were younger, we used to joke about who’d play for England first. I got to under-21 level and he made the England B team so we both got pretty close.
